Health Budget
There is a great need among our students and their families for basic medical services and we feel that good health is a requisite to learning. So, starting in 2009 we modified our scholarship program to provide basic health services, including parasite medication, vitamin supplements for balanced nutrition, medical exams, and health education workshops for the whole family. This health component comprises $50 of the total scholarship cost.
Basic medical exams: Three times per year the doctor gives each child a basic medical exam to assess his overall health, including tracking his weight and height. Exams are also provided for other family members as needed.
Vitamin supplements: Iron and vitamin supplements are given to each child.
Parasite medication: Parasite medication is administered four times per year.
Health Education: Workshops and classes are given to the children and their families on the importance of proper health and hygiene and avoiding parasites.
$50 per child per year provides:
Medical Exams $15
Vitamin supplements $15
Parasite medication $ 5
Health Education $15
Total $50
